White button mushrooms reduce cholesterol
We focused on whether white button mushrooms could help lower cholesterol levels and blood sugar in rats. In our study, we found that after three weeks of the mushroom powder, diabetic rats showed significant drops in glucose and triglyceride levels.

Furthermore, in hypercholesterolemic rats, a four-week treatment led to impressive reductions in total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. Overall, these findings suggest that white button mushrooms may have beneficial effects on cholesterol and blood sugar management, at least in rat models.

Secholex lowers cholesterol moderately
We examined the effects of Secholex, an anion-exchange gel, on high cholesterol in 46 patients with severe hyperlipoproteinemia over various studies. The results revealed that Secholex effectively lowered cholesterol levels, achieving a 15% reduction after the first year and 13% during the second year. While it was less effective than cholestyramine in increasing bile acid excretion, many patients preferred Secholex. However, it’s important to note that a third of patients experienced limited reductions in cholesterol, indicating varying responses.

We explored the effects of partial ileal bypass (PIB) on cholesterol levels in a small group of young adults with hyperlipidemia. After the surgical procedure, participants received vitamin B12 injections twice monthly.

Impressively, total plasma cholesterol levels decreased significantly three months after surgery and remained lower after one year. However, while PIB helped normalize cholesterol, it didn't completely prevent the progression of atherosclerosis in some patients. This indicates that while B12 treatment benefited cholesterol levels, it wasn't a cure-all for other cardiovascular issues we studied.

I suffer from pernicious anaemia. After using a sublingual B12 spray, I still felt terrible, but I switched to this brand without cyanide and had excellent results. I feel amazing now and highly recommend this product. I wish they offered Methylcobalamin and Adenosylcobalamin, which I am now trying.

After taking this for six months due to B12 deficiency and high homocysteine levels (8), my homocysteine fell to 5 and my iron levels increased. I take it occasionally in sublingual form, which is very convenient.

Solgar is my favourite brand, and I chose these vitamins. The tablets are small and easily digestible. Methylcobalamin is the active form of vitamin B12, which is well absorbed in our bodies and helps reduce cholesterol. I was pleased with the product and recommend it for prophylaxis.

We explored how a specific dietary supplement that includes Vitamin B12 affects cholesterol levels in individuals with moderate high cholesterol. In our study, 80 participants were split into a treatment group and a control group.

After 6 months, the group taking the supplement experienced a notable drop in total cholesterol (TC) and improvements in other cholesterol types, while the control group showed no significant changes outside of TC reduction.

This suggests that, while a healthy diet and exercise can help, the addition of such supplements, including Vitamin B12, may enhance cholesterol management more effectively.

B vitamins reduce homocysteine levels
We explored the effects of vitamins B12, B6, and folic acid on cholesterol and homocysteine levels in 24 male patients with high triglycerides and cholesterol issues. Over 120 days, patients took specific doses of these vitamins while researchers measured their lipid and homocysteine levels at various intervals.

While we saw a notable decrease in homocysteine levels and triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) did increase slightly. However, overall cholesterol levels did not significantly change.

This suggests that while vitamin B supplementation can affect certain lipids and lower homocysteine, it may not drastically alter cholesterol levels in these patients.

Fortified juice reduces LDL cholesterol
We explored how adding plant sterols to orange juice can impact cholesterol levels in mildly hypercholesterolemic individuals. In this study, 72 healthy participants enjoyed either regular orange juice or a fortified version for eight weeks.

Those drinking the fortified juice saw a decrease in total cholesterol by 7.2%, LDL cholesterol by 12.4%, and non-HDL cholesterol by 7.8%. However, we found no changes in HDL cholesterol or triglyceride levels. The results suggest that plant sterol-fortified orange juice can be a simple addition to a cholesterol-lowering diet.

Effective assistance
Simply the best B12! This high-quality vitamin B12 is in its active form and absorbs instantly in the body. I administered this to my mother during Covid to combat convulsions, which increased sharply during her illness. It performed excellently! There were no side effects noted when she took it. We now keep it constantly in the first-aid kit for our parents, and at the first sign of a relapse, we utilise it immediately. It’s certainly an effective product! Wishing all health and happiness! If you liked my review, please give it a like.

Solgar Sublingual Methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12) 1000 mcg is an excellent way to provide the body with the necessary vitamin B12. The sublingual form ensures quick and effective absorption without needing to swallow a tablet. I’ve noticed an improvement in my energy and overall well-being after using this product. Solgar maintains high quality standards, and this vitamin B12 exemplifies their reliability.

No improvement noted
No noticeable changes. This vitamin was recommended by my attending physician due to repeated thrombosis in my right limb. The aim was to monitor homocysteine levels before and after two months of taking it. Unfortunately, the results were unsatisfactory, as the level even increased by one unit. Perhaps this is simply a response from my body rather than an issue with the vitamin itself.

Multi-ingredient supplement shows promise
We examined a multi-ingredient supplement (MIS) featuring red yeast rice and omega-3 fatty acids to see how it impacts cholesterol levels in patients without cardiovascular disease.

In our pilot study involving 19 participants, we found that the MIS significantly reduced total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels. While those on the combined regimen of MIS and omega-3 saw a drop in triglycerides, the change wasn't significant, likely due to the small participant group.

Overall, the MIS shows promise in helping with cholesterol management and may improve patient compliance.

B12 treatment shows no significant cholesterol benefit
We explored the effects of a daily combination of plant sterols, fish oil, and B vitamins on cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic young individuals over 16 weeks.

While we observed significant reductions in total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, the impact of B12 treatment specifically did not lead to marked improvements in high cholesterol.

Interestingly, triacylglycerol levels decreased slightly but were not statistically significant. Overall, this evidence suggests that while the combination may help manage cholesterol, B12 does not create a standout difference on its own.
